Remember Unemployment Labour cards pack of 8
Pack of 8 greetings cards (blank inside for your own message) with light grey envelopes. This image is based on a Labour Party poster produced for the 1950 UK General Election recalling the Jarrow March of fourteen years previous when an army of unemployed men had marched from Jarrow in north east England to London to protest about their plight. The march had been supported by Jarrow MP Ellen Wilkinson, whereas many other similar protests had received Communist Party support. Labour, in power since 1945, managed to win the 1950 election by a mere five seats and so called another election 20 months later hoping to increase their majority. This time they lost to the Conservatives, although they did win the popular vote.
