Joan of Arc Suffragette fridge magnet
Was Joan of Arc a Suffragette? The Suffragettes certainly thought she was an example to be followed and she became their de facto patron saint. Her militaristic approach suited their view of the struggle for women's rights which could only be won, in their opinion, by militant tactics (like breaking windows). They'd come to the conclusion, under Emmeline Pankhurst, that the diplomatic approach could not bring about equal rights for women, and they needed to hit out physically against the vested interests of the male dominated state. So stick this on the fridge and don't let people forget it.
