Votes for Women Wanted tote bag

"Votes for Women" was the official weekly newspaper of the Women's Social and Political Union led by Emmeline Pankhurst. It was published from 1907 until 1912 and edited and financed by husband and wife team, Emmeline and Frederick Pethick-Lawrence. This unusual tote bag is based on a poster design by Hilda Dallas and shows a deliberately elegant-looking woman selling the newspaper (probably to counter negative misogynistic propaganda).

Specifications: Bleached 10oz cotton canvas tote bag, printed on both sides. Measures approx 37 cm square with 11cm gusset and long handles. Machine washable at 30 degrees.
