Votes for Women Wanted premium wash bag

The stunning design on this wash bag is from a 1909 poster advertising "Votes for Women", the official weekly newspaper of the Women's Social and Political Union. It was published from 1907 until 1912 and edited and financed by husband and wife team Emmeline and Frederick Pethick-Lawrence. The poster was designed by Hilda Dallas, a WSPU member and a student at the Slade School of Art from 1910 to 1911 and shows a deliberately elegant-looking woman selling the newspaper (probably to counter negative misogynistic propaganda).
